Has anyone installed a spinnaker on their WR17, for those really light air days, or when the wind drops after you get to the middle of the lake? I imagine using the sail from another dinghy class or very small keel boat.

Used my old I-14 chute. a lot of work if you are single-handed. A better sail is a code zero and tack downwind.

hi we have a spinnaker on our 2003 windrider 17 we use it in all wind speeds.the spinnaker is much easier to use than the reacher .the bowsprit (i used the top half of a windsurfer mast) supplied by windrider is ok in light winds built to fail .get eye bolts at home depot and run rope thru them to the bow sprit to keep the pole from twisting .a friend had bought the whole kit for his and the stainless ring came apart inferior welds .shame on windrider for their quality control . j have used my diy set up in all wind conditions for a few years now with no problems.videos on you tube under andrea frees and lucky lift sailing.the rudder on the windrider is junk the replacement rudder from windrider is also horrible i have seen 2 new rudders and there is no quality control. .the rudder post becomes loose and you get weather helm. i have made a fiberglass one which has naca foil shape rudder is complete but as of right now untested.my email is corsairf28r@yahoo.com .i have sailed windriders for years also owned a rave for awhile . the rave 5 development was a waste if you cant foil upwind it is no good.they should have kept the old rave design with the option of regular dagger boards and rudders for the light air days and good for all around sailing.a jib that zips on like the catamarans would be better than the wire run through the luff.
