Has anybody modified their mast rotation limiter to something that holds up long term and even better, could be easily adjusted? I've tried plenty of different lines and aside from having trouble getting the knots in the right places, it's a hassle because the tension always pull them until they are longer, and eventually they fray and break. Usually they break at a very inopportune time in my experience. I'd love to see any outside the box ideas!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi, Mike:
I've not had an issue using the rotation limiter, but I don't adjust mine much. Are you using a boom vang? I suspect that helps keep the mast and boom aligned.

If you refer to (mast limiter) in this discussion you will see that I (richard) recommended using a length of mast halyard line for the mast rotation limiter, and add washers for adjustments.

Thanks guys, it's not a constant problem, just a few times a year. I do not use a boom vang because I'm relatively new to sailing and self taught and I don't understand the advantages. I'd love to sail with somebody more experienced to learn what I'm doing wrong or could do better. I will look into the mast halyard line as a better option.

ziggy on you tube has a good work around for the mast rotation limiter. cam cleats port and starboard would help with the adjustments. this will be the next thing i will do to mine. i added a spinnaker to mine ,way faster to gybe than the genoa. if you do put a genoa on your boat be sure to put wires on the sprit to help with the load. see windrider videos on you tube (andrea frees and lucky lift sailing )of spinnaker gybes exetensvely tested. other mods i have done square top main ,about 500 miles on that new fiberglass rudder little failure using a fiberglass painters pole for the post of the rudder ,it would not stand up to the torque. still working on that. new mylar squaretop main in the works now .

Mast ROTATION LIMITER and Mast ROTATION CONTROL are two different modifications, but they both limit/control mast rotation. For Mast ROTATION CONTROL see WR17 MAST ROTATION CONTROL by richard.
