stock measurements 16 ft 4inches luff 8 ft for the foot 16 ft 4 in leach these are about measurements as i did not stretch the sail outjust laid it on the ground a;so did not take in account for the semi square top main . i have made several sails for the windrider 17 and 16 . easy to do as the battens are what induces the draft into the sail. see my you tube channel lucky lift sailing and see the diffrent sails also andrea frees youtube channel . you have plenty of room to play with . you can get sailrite to make the sail also. one other way would be to recycle a sail from another boat.some guys have used the sails from a rave . the boat will handle more sail area than stock sail plan and not comprimise safety still keep in mind to reef in higher winds. we generally bring the stock sail with us to use wind the winds pipe up. you are only going to go but so fastno matter how much sail you put up . the 17 tops out at about 14 knots then the rudder acts like you have power steering and the boat goes all over the place.hiher winds and if your sailing by yorself when the boat gets overpowered the front lifts up to counter this you get your weight forwardset steering up so you can be in the front cockpit.
